October, as most (if not all) of us know, is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
I've been a PROUD member of The Crochet Lounge on Facebook for quite some time. One day I popped in to find a few "Crochet-A-Long" or "CAL" projects on the go. One pattern in particular caught my eye. It was for a Breast Cancer Awareness Scarf, created by naztazia.com

I tell you, this scarf was beautiful, simple and gorgeous. It was also FAST. Then I thought about it a bit. Not everyone will like a scarf. You can't always wear a scarf. A WRISTBAND, however....
So, I contacted the designer with my idea. I asked her if it would be all right with her if I modified and published an alternative to her scarf, with her giving the final ok before publishing. She was quite impressed, and gave her blessing.
Less than a week later...... The Awareness Wristband was born!

The Awareness Wristband is available for FREE in my Ravelry shop as a PDF download.
I urge you to go grab yourself a copy. Remember that this Wristband doesn't have to be made in honor of just Breast Cancer, that there are other ribbon colors you can create this with and for. If you do sell your finished project, I ask that you consider donating a part of your proceeds to the health charity you've chosen to make it for (Cancer Societies, Mental Health societies, Autism, etc). You'd be doing a world of good for them.
